I'm Brian Hoey, founder of Axis 9 and a forensic scientist by training, a leader by experience, and a teacher at heart.
For more than 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in public forensic laboratories—first as a scientist, then as a laboratory director, and now as a national voice for leadership, quality assurance, and strategic transformation in the forensic science community and beyond. Throughout my career, I’ve seen firsthand how clarity, structure, and purpose can elevate both people and processes. I’ve also learned that what looks like a six from one side might appear as a nine from another—and that true leadership begins when we choose to see both.
Axis 9 was born out of that perspective.
Through this work, I help leaders and organizations bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be. Whether through leadership training, executive coaching, Lean Six Sigma facilitation, or strategic planning, my goal is simple: to bring clarity to complexity, and to help people lead with intention and perform with competence and character.
